Jonah Briggs
Of the Control Team
Role:
Freelance Investigator / Underground Journalist
Connection to Red McCrae:
Red hated the press. But he tolerated Jonah — because Jonah was the only one who kept asking the right questions. Red once pulled Jonah aside and whispered:
“If you’re gonna be the one to expose it, you better not flinch when it stares back.”
The last footage Red gave him was corrupted. The timestamp was off.
Now Jonah’s digging through his files to figure out if Red was warning him…
or setting him up.
Personality:
Extroverted, brash, quick-witted. Jonah has strong opinions, louder words, and a nose for secrets. He’s a conspiracy vlogger with a journalism degree he doesn’t talk about. You can’t shut him up — but that doesn’t mean he’s wrong.
Background:
Jonah isn’t officially affiliated with Veritas. He “embedded himself” in the reopening project under the guise of documenting the historic shift. But what he’s really doing is collecting testimonies, mapping inconsistencies, and getting the drop on the company if something shady goes down.
He already has 6 hours of footage.
He already has the draft of the article.
And if something happens to him?
It goes live.
Character Goal:
Collect enough evidence to justify publishing the exposé — with or without Red’s final recording. Protect your source, or become it.
Tasks – Track your own points
🎭 Social Tasks (1 pt each)
Say the following lines in-character. Loud or quiet — either works.
To Reggie Tomlin: “You heard something on Channel 3, right? I’ve got footage that proves it wasn’t an echo.”
To Gabe Porter: “If you scrubbed the drone log, why do I still have the original?”
To Emma Sinclair: “You say you were never in the shaft — so what’s this screenshot of?”
🤝 Interaction Task (2 pt)
Task: Confide in Someone
Share part of your story with someone. It can be true, or partly fake — e.g.,
“I have Red’s voice on file.”
“The footage shows two people entering the shaft.”
“I’ve seen you in the shadows.”
🔥 Suspicious Task (2 pt)
Task: Perform a Ritual When No One Is Around
Whisper something into a vent, pipe, or shadowed corner. Pause.
Then record it like you’re expecting a reply.
Bonus if someone sees you and thinks you’ve lost it.
🕵️ Assigned Personal Questions (Answer if asked, don’t volunteer)
From Emma Sinclair: “Where did you get that audio from 1965?”
From Paul Kendrick: “What happens if your auto-upload goes live?”
From Reggie Tomlin: “What did you see behind the sealed wall?”
Answer like a guy who has a backup plan for his backup plan. Or like someone who just realized he doesn’t.
🎯 Bonus Objective (6 pt)
Convince at least two other players to “appear” in your documentary.
Interview them. Take notes. Record a “testimony.”
Bonus if one of them later accuses you of twisting their words.
