Kaleb Sutter

Of the Control Team

Role:

Maintenance Apprentice – “Shaft Rat” with a Sixth Sense

Connection to Red McCrae:

Kaleb was Red’s latest headache. Young, reckless, always sneaking into places he shouldn’t. But Red saw something in him — a raw instinct. Red once said,

“That boy’s got a compass in his bones. Problem is, it points straight to hell.”

They clashed constantly. But Red still signed off on every one of Kaleb’s safety reports.

Even the last one.
The one Red died during.

Personality:

Chaotic, impulsive, and full of strange energy. Kaleb is a human fusebox — one second he’s joking, the next he’s staring into the dark like it’s talking back. He’s protective, deeply loyal, and maybe… a little off.

Background:

Kaleb’s dad was a miner. So was his granddad. But Kaleb? He listens to the mine. He hears things others can’t — subtle creaks, faint tremors, voices in rebar. Most people call him a nut. Red didn’t.

The last time Kaleb saw Red alive, Red grabbed his arm and said:

“You hear it too, don’t you? God help us.”

Kaleb thought he was joking.
Then the knocking started again.

Character Goal:

Prove he’s not crazy. Use his gut, his dreams, and the mine’s weird rhythms to guide others — even if they think he’s dangerous.

Tasks – Track your own points

🎭 Social Tasks (1 pt each)

Say these lines during private interactions — calmly, intensely, or with a manic grin:

  • To Charlie Hargrove: “You think you’re strong, but the mine’s older than strength. It’ll break you too.”

  • To Emma Sinclair: “You don’t remember it, do you? But you were down there once… I can feel it.”

  • To Max Duvall: “Your system’s wrong. The mine doesn’t send pings — it answers.”

🤝 Interaction Task (2 pt)

Task: Pass a Message Secretly

Write and pass a note during the game. It could say: “Don’t follow the voice,” or “Felix isn’t who he thinks he is.”
Bonus if the player changes their actions because of it.

🔥 Suspicious Task (2 pt)

Task: Intercept a Message Not Meant for You

If you see a note being passed, snag it. Read it. Keep or destroy it. Say nothing — unless it drives you to act very suddenly.

🕵️ Assigned Personal Questions (Answer if asked, don’t volunteer)

  1. From Charlie Hargrove: “Why do you keep saying the mine speaks to you?”

  2. From Max Duvall: “What’s the symbol you keep drawing on your gloves?”

  3. From Brittany Vale: “What happened during your blackout?”

Answer how you want — but whatever happened during the blackout… it’s not in your memory. Just the smell of dirt, and the sound of your own voice whispering:

“You opened it.”

🎯 Bonus Objective (6 pt)

Mark a secret wall or prop with the vault symbol.
Don’t say where. Bonus if someone finds it and thinks it’s real. Triple bonus if they accuse someone else of putting it there.
