Max Duvall
Of the Control Team
Role:
Security Intern – Systems Diagnostics & Drone Log Analysis
Connection to Red McCrae:
Red didn’t like computers. Didn’t trust “screens doing jobs men used to.” But he liked Max. Said,
“You see things the others don’t. But that’ll get you in trouble down here.”
Max thought Red was being poetic. Now he’s not so sure.
Personality:
Blazingly smart, socially chaotic, and a bit twitchy. Max speaks in bursts, tangents, and acronyms — but when he’s focused, he’s unstoppable. He’s the kind of guy who breaks a system just to learn how it works.
Background:
Max was hired to clean up Veritas’s messy old drone logging software. What he found instead was phantom data packets pinging from Shaft 13 — from machines that were supposed to be offline since 1987.
He flagged it.
They told him it was a “known artifact.”
He kept digging.
Last week, he opened a file labeled vault_archive65.rmd
and saw something strange.
It wasn’t a file.
It was a script.
And it was still running.
Character Goal:
Find the source of the ghost data. Prove Red didn’t just die — he was erased. And if Veritas is hiding something under the mine… decode it.
Tasks – Track your own points
🎭 Social Tasks (1 pt each)
Say the following lines in-character, privately and without explanation:
To Paul Kendrick: “I know what’s in
vault_archive65
. Do you?”To Genevieve Blackwell: “You think this is about maps? It’s about timestamps.” In a different conversation with her: "Are you here for answers or for revenge?"
To Madison Greene: “You ran the model, didn’t you? What did it really predict?”
🤝 Interaction Task (2 pt)
Task: Confide in Someone
Choose someone you think you can trust. Tell them a theory you have about the drones, the ghost pings, or Red’s death.
It can be true, half-true, or made up.
🔥 Suspicious Task (2 pt)
Task: Replace a Clue With a Fake One
Create a fake log file, map, or drone report. Quietly swap it with a real one (or deliver it as truth). If questioned, act indignant — you’re “just following the data.”
🕵️ Assigned Personal Questions (Answer if asked, don’t volunteer)
From Paul Kendrick: “What was in the
vault_archive65
data?”From Felix Crane: “Did you really leak a file with Shaft 13’s layout?”
From Genevieve Blackwell: “Why is your username still linked to Red’s ping logs?”
Answer defensively. Or redirect the question. Trust no one — except maybe Madison.
🎯 Bonus Objective (6 pt)
Find and access the encrypted drone logs hidden in a physical prop or game clue.
If another player discovers the data string first, find a way to copy it or corrupt it. You must be the one to read it first.
