Asher Lemay

Of the Field Team

Role:

Camp Cook & Former Miner – “Listener” of the Deep

Connection to Red McCrae:

Red and Asher worked together deep underground for nearly a decade. Red was gruff. Asher was gentle. They balanced each other. When Red left the mines, Asher stayed. Quietly. Until something shook him enough to walk away for good.

Red once told him:

“You listen too well, Lemay. The mine hears you back.”

Personality:

Calm, reflective, emotionally grounded. Asher speaks like someone who’s lived in silence. He doesn’t interrupt, doesn’t push — but always seems to know what others are about to say. He believes the mine remembers. And that it might be speaking again.

Background:

Asher’s the camp cook now. People think he’s just a gentle soul with a few stories and good food. But he’s been down deeper shafts than most. He left when the old tunnels started whispering.

He still wears a broken miner’s badge — Red’s.
Red gave it to him after a tunnel collapse, saying:

“It should’ve been mine that day.”

Asher’s not sure what Red meant.
But he’s starting to understand.

Character Goal:

Make peace with the mine’s past. Protect those who are listening. And if the whispers start again — be the first to hear, and the last to run.

Tasks – Track your own points

🎭 Social Tasks (1 pt each)

Speak the following lines in private, calmly, like memories surfacing:

  • To Brittany Vale: “You don’t come from here — but you brought something back with you, didn’t you?”

  • To Paul Kendrick: “There are initials in your vault. Some of them... don’t belong anymore.”

  • To Sarah Talbot: “You found more than a medallion, didn’t you? Something’s following you.”

🤝 Interaction Task (2 pt)

Task: Confront Someone You Suspect

Calmly call someone out — not with accusation, but with quiet, unnerving clarity. Say something like,
“I’ve seen this look before. You know something you shouldn’t.”

🔥 Suspicious Task (2 pt)

Task: Mark a False Path on the Tunnel Map

Quietly mark a false tunnel on the group’s map. Make it look real. Then say nothing unless someone asks — in which case, respond with:
“It’s where I heard the knocking last time.”

🕵️ Assigned Personal Questions (Answer if asked, don’t volunteer)

  1. From Nelson McTavish: “What did Red say about the old miner’s chant?”

  2. From Issac Boone: “What’s the significance of the broken badge you carry?”

  3. From Genevieve Blackwell: “Why do you believe in the stories?”

You may answer honestly. Or mysteriously. Sometimes the best response is:

“Would it change anything if I told you?”

🎯 Bonus Objective (6 pt)

Use the Miner’s Oath in front of someone who’s unraveling. Whisper it to calm them — or stir the fear deeper. Bonus if it makes someone visibly uncomfortable
